While I do think that it would guarantee a good story to get the ReBoot creators on board, I can't really condemn Rainmaker if they don't. Mostly because while I'm not sure who had or hadn't left the company at the time, Mainframe was sold. And this happened knowingly rather than some sort of hostile takeover, so in a sense they did give up any rights to ReBoot. So honestly, if they were willing to sell it to someone else I can't really say that I'm that concerned whether or not they come back to work on it.

From what I've seen and read of the comic Jeff is going a great job writing for ReBoot, and if the finished comic is as good as I think it will be I'm fine with him doing another issue, the movies, a new series, or whatever. I love ReBoot and the only important thing to me is that the person that writes it keeps the root of the show rather than doing some relaunch that loses the tech humor and subtle other things that make it ReBoot.

Also, Titan I don't think the Star Wars movies really apply in this case. That was a totally different situation, especially because Lucas has been working to make Star Wars suck ever since the original movies were released. I mean Han shot first, we all know it. He's edited them to hell, each time a different batch is released some of the dialog and audio is slightly different than the last. I think he just got sick of people bugging him about Star Wars so he decided, 'That's it, I'm gonna make new Star Wars movies and they'll be terrible! That way no one will bring them up to me again!' Plus, the studio didn't decide to make them and ask him to come back to the project, he's the on that came up with the idea and used his own studio to do it.

Yes, I see what you guys are getting at. Although I still stand by the fact that Gavin and Ian should at least be given the opportunity, I won't necessarily write off the whole series if they aren't. New ReBoot is new ReBoot, and as long as they don't really screw it up, it will be SOMEthing. In which case, I really hope Jeff fairs well, as he seems to know what it's all about...

Plus, worst comes to worst, there is still always the 47 episodes of ReBoot that made me love the series. Back when MegaByte was Tony Jay, and Gavin and the rest were at the helm...Even though it ended on a cliff hanger...though we should start bugging Rainmaker about rounding up the rights to all the seasons, for DVD release purposes.

Oh yeah, and lol on that Star Wars stuff...

The strongest Star Wars was Empire Strikes Back, the one Lucas had the least to do with. Sometimes being overprotective of a baby can screw them up just as much as throwing them to the wolves.

Mekikas, I don't know if that's totally true about Empire being the strongest of the movies. I've always been partial to Jedi myself. Only thing is that the powers Yoda used in the prequels make Luke look like really stupid in retrospect. I mean, when it was just the 3 movies and he lays down his lightsaber and refuses to fight it was like he'd overcome the dark side within himself by not resorting to anger and violence. But in the new ones Yoda uses all sorts of a bad ass powers and totally gives the fight a run for it's money making it seem more like Luke just crapped out.

And Naruto, from what I understand ABC (I think) still owns the rights to the DVDs of season 1 and 2, which is why right now you can only buy season 3. However, I believe that the rights expire back to Rainmaker sometime next year and you can bet they're going to want to cash in on that, especially if they're trying to bring ReBoot back. So hopefully, we'll be getting the complete collection then...my season 4 does look awfully lonely.

If it's indeed next year, you can bet your bottom dollar that with everything happening here, it's going to be a great angle to exploit for a full-scale relaunch.

Before we derail this thread... yes... I thought Empire was the strongest of the originals and EP3 was the strongest of the prequels by far... but either way you look at it... I think the story quality in the original series was better than the prequels.

As far as the Reboot reboot, I do agree that seeing if the old creators might be interested in still doing something with the series might be cool. However, they might want to take it in a direction that Rainmaker doesn't want to go and that may be the very reason they aren't working with them. After all, it would seem that did still have plans for where things were going to go before it was cancelled. Maybe Rainmaker either doesn't think those would be successful, does want to go in that direction, or just wants to assure that this new Reboot will be its own monster and have it's own success, regardless of what the original creators go off to do. Just some thoughts. I guess it will be one of those "wait and see"'s at any rate.

If the original writers wanted to help with the comics don't you think they would be doing it. For his reasons, Gavin doesn't want to come back.

I do believe that the original writers should be given a chance to contribute to the new films, but i also think that the new people should be given a chance. Just becuase they weren't there when seasons 1-4 were made dosen't mean that this will turn out to be a bad film. It could be brilliant. It could be a disaster. At the moment we don't know. I feel your concerns for the much loved show (and I share them), but so long as they listen to us then I think we'll be ok.
And let's face it, even if they do screw it up, it'll never get rid of the original series'. That is something nobody can take away
