I would like to see 1 of 2 things. Either a continuation or a spinoff. Don't reboot it like BSG - I hated the ending of that show.
Continue with the cliffhanger. Then make new episodes or lost episodes. The new episodes can be a computer upgrade or city repair after the system crash. The lost episodes could be filler episodes like what happened on the twin city or after the season 3 musical.
As for the spinoff, it could be a prequel like the Binome series that was proposed or it could any number of suggested sequels.
Amen anamolie! I loathed BSG by the middle and snubbed it completely by the end. I thought it was too much taken over by fanboys in control of the script and felt it turning into fanfiction. I also thought they tried to tap too much into nitty gritty drama and over sexed everything to distract from the plot meandering all over the place. >:(
If ReBoot goes the way of BSG...I'm going to have to have words with Rainmaker.
As long as the characters and city are the same, not necessarily in looks but in name. Then anything else is alright.
Just as long as it doesn't look like something from Tron. That might fit the look of a nation wide networking but not for personal computers which is what i'm guessing Maingrame is. Personal computers would have more of a more lively and home-like touch. Mainframe is pretty much just that. You can change the entire look of the city and it will still be Mainframe so long as the characters are the ones we know and love personality wise. Would hope for the voice but I know that's a bit of a stretch.
Now there are a few things I might suggest for updating and that't to update the terminology used. Kids Sector for one I remember being a throwback to Windows 95's kids space. Now we're useing Windows XP and even Vista (with all of vistas program issues.) I would think that the User of mainframe would eventually want to update their OS, wouldn't they?
OK maybe I didn't think that all the way through but there is a character limit on how much we can type so I had to paraphrase a lot. As long as the characters we know are still intact as we remember them then little else about the reboot world matters to me. I mean Mainframe as far as I understood it was their representation of what the operating system looked like. And the guardians as I understood it were like the anti-virus program that we commonly download into our computers every day. Most of these terms are now common place unlike what they were when reboot came out. most ten yer olds even know what a mainframe is. Seriously, what kids know these days scares me.
We do need sort of a next generation Reboot. I hate to bring up Tron but they are introducing Sam Flynn, Kevin's son who will have a major roll in finding his father. That's what Reboot needs. Having a grown Enzo Matrix who has finished the academy with his friends along with the old cast and their kids. Best of both worlds.
I think that the Hunt is a good idea, but we cannot do it... YET!
What I think should happen is that they use this movie to test the waters, and then get Gavin, Ian, and Phil to make The Hunt depending on the sucess of both the Movie and Boxset.
I TOTALLY agree on the whole maturity thing! Matrix should be in this film, and if it goes back to the Series 1 tone, you couldn't have Matrix there (unless you heavily alter his character, which would be VERY VERY BAD!)
I totally agree with you on releasing the boxset. I think they should remake it but let it lead up to the hunt. they cant continue the hunt because the people who used to watch reboot have now grown and you cant draw new fans with a contuining story because they wont know the past of the hunt. If they do remake it I think they should include all the technology thats been found since the 90s and include a side story about them.
Well i dont believe it has to be remade be be more grittier and darker
I mean they are still running TMNT and transformers (givin they have always had a huge fanbase)
I believe it just needs a revamp of visuals (keeping the same style) and a uprgrade of terminology + a slight change in storyline would do it, do anything too drastic to the show and i believe the show would lose itself.
I would think that, if ReBoot were being rebooted for the 2000's, we'd have to include all of the new technology that has been invented since the 90's.
Think of it this way: Where could you find Bob now? In your iPhone? Your NetBook? Your BlackBerry? Heck, what about your GPS?! There are literally a gajillion new worlds that have been created since then, and in as many languages as the world has.
Let's not forget about the different operating systems, too! Windoze, Mac OS, Linux, etc, etc... the list really goes on. Are there different branches of guardians for those OSes? Can they or have they ever communicated with each other?
I could see it going a wee-bit live-action, for data that flows to and from different devices. It would also be funny to see people's (aka us) reactions to the various goings on. I wouldn't introduce any "funny business" of introducing some new, lame live-action character that interacts with all of our favourite sprites, though. *whew!*
Yes but they need to stay true to the old reboot they need to keep the same characters and keep a decent plot line. Keeping the characters basic attributes and attitudes is very. I think the Original reboot alone could attract tones of new fans if properly advertised. But if they are going change it up a bit lets hope it isn't too much. The characters and amazing plot that generated in the 3rd and 4th season is what made reboot so great. Not saying the first 2 season were not great but the direction they took the series in from season 2 too 3 was perfect making it more darker appealing to the older audience. Lets hope they can be successful in remaking reboot.
if megabyte was about to take over my computer as a user i would shut it down and reboot in safe made and reformat :P end of story
and reboot ReBoot :) i would keep the same files (characters) and the same hard drive setup (the city) maybe even get some new updates like that data compression unit or a quantum business network maximizer that Dot wanted ;) just what you were thinking im sure
Yeah, agree. Mainframe would have to get those updates that the sprites were begging for. However, they'd have to keep some things the same, and update others. *nodnod*
Well, you're correct in that for a franchise to survive it needs to pull in a big audience. But for ReBoot I often wonder if it wasn't the quality of the show that did it in, but the networks or something else. Much like Arrested Development or Futurama.
So I think for ReBoot to come back, you'd need to make a good entry level movie/series. Much like the new Star Trek you mentioned, something that would still be new and exciting for old fans and explain enough for those who have never seen the show before.
Maybe a good example would be the new Doctor Who series. It was easy to get into and enjoy, yet still kept everything that came before it Canon.
