The trick is advertising the movie as a "cartoon for the whole family" and putting ads on TV networks like Teletoon and YTV (Or Cartoon Network in the US). Also, releasing an early trailer, like, a year before the release of the film will build up hype. The more hype the better.
As for making the movie actually GOOD, yeah, Gavin and the gang really need to be a part of this. Oh Rainmaker, why can't you see this?
I think the movie would do better if it follows the ideas put forth in the October 2004 Wired Magazine article "The Long Tail" rather than go for the 'hit the big screen and hope it doesn't just become a big smear' route. The Long Tail route is more practical as it requires a smaller viewing audience to make it profitable.
it's all up to the writers. if they keep the storyline genuine and all of the characters the same (with the obvious absence of Tony Jay), it can't fail. as for lack of fans, i think there are more of us out there then we think. however, if the film does flop, i will do whatever i can to promote the series as a whole. but, to repeat previous comments, i will die inside.
well their are more off us out there so i dont think fans will be the problem. the problem would be with the writers if it does fail they need to keep the classic charm. however if the film is bad, i would drag my friends anyway under threat of a beating but like all of you i would be crying inside. and for me it would prove that their is no god
This is why the involvement of the original creators is so important, in my opinion.
I understand that there's something to be said for going with fresh ideas for a fresh new direction, but I just don't think that can be done effectively unless the new writers are themselves die-hard fans of the series.
That's how it was when they adapted The Lord of the Rings. Everyone who worked on that trilogy put their entire heart and soul into making it the best it could be.
Reboot needs nothing less in order to be successful.
if the movie if a flop then i just won't stop complaning until they somebody does something to fix it and if that dosn't happen i say we fix it! we can take scenes the movie, rewrite the bad parts, mute it, redub it, shove a disclaimer on it, put it all together and then stick it on youtube as a fan made parody :D i mean with all the reboot fans out there im sure we could find some then can make a voice close to their favorite charaters and who could know what the fans want more then us, the fans! and if we work really hard it could even look professonal, i mean just look what teamfourstar did with dbz. if you put that on tv no one would be able to tell it was fan made. and then all the REALLY smart fans could download it and burn it onto a dvd and then switch it with the real movie in the dvd case and pretend nothing ever bad happend to reboot and nothing ever will ^____^ but thats only if it does flop which i hope dosn't happen, but if it does, well then hey atleast there's a plain B

I wouldn't be the same person.
People would ask me how I was and I would just sigh and shake my head.
I was like that for a little while when the Aprils Fools trailer for the Zelda movie came out.

:( Me too. I think it would steal away my childhood and all I'd remember from "the good old days" would be a black void.
Please wait ...
