The trick is advertising the movie as a "cartoon for the whole family" and putting ads on TV networks like Teletoon and YTV (Or Cartoon Network in the US). Also, releasing an early trailer, like, a year before the release of the film will build up hype. The more hype the better.
As for making the movie actually GOOD, yeah, Gavin and the gang really need to be a part of this. Oh Rainmaker, why can't you see this?
Well, as someone who has seen two of her favorite shows get turned into movies (Scooby Doo & Get Smart), regardless of how the movie does, it will generate interest to people, especially if fans tell friends and others.
I was NOT looking forward to either Scooby or GS when I heard about their movies, but I have to say I was pleased with them. To note, the GS mailing list was split between people who enjoyed the film and those that didn't. The ones that didn't were expecting Get Smart.
The same is true for the 4th Indiana Jones movie. Critics loved it, but Indy fans hated it because it wasn't INDY! It was Harrison Ford dressed as Indy, with the title as Indy, but it wasn't Indy.
Even if critics love it, fans may hate it and it'll give a false impression to new fans or worse, confuse them if the movie is completely different from the series.
If the movie flops I'd have to put myself offline. D:
This is something I always fear when people try to remake things and such to bring it back. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. With ReBoot, I can only pray that it does work, and if it doesn't? I'll just have to gather my fellow local fans and riot until it is done right.
Honestly, if the movie flops, which trust me I am afraid of as well, that will be the end of new ReBoot. I highly doubt Rainmaker would make a sequel, and if the response is bad, no other company is going to jump in and do it over. With that being said........Rainmaker you have a lot of responsibility on your plate!
The thought alone gives me nightmares - If that does occur, well... it'll kill a small part of me, but I'll still remain a fan. Hopefully it won't stop the fan push for Reboot to continue.
If it flops or ends on another cliff-hanger, it will either kill all new fans from watching it or kill the old fans' faith.
If Rainmaker drop it before being finished, Rainmaker will never be able to work on another project. They will forever be damned for destroying one of the greatest shows ever.
I dread the rumours I read about ReBoot lately, really hoping for some good news soon.
