Is Rainmakers still attempting to find a broadcast home in the states for ReBoot?
Have they approached any networks about a possible run of the first four seasons to drum up more awareness/remembrance of the show to support this cause?
Has there been any talk of perhaps a streaming presence for the series through one or more internet broadcast sites (ie Youtube, Hulu, etc)?
Any talk of merchandise - if not for the new movie then for classic reboot? (It'd be great exposure!)
What's up with the DVDs? Are the rights sorted out? What's the official issue with this - there seem to be tons of rumors floating around.
I spoke with Rainmaker once in regard to Youtube and other online streaming options. Here was their response:
"Regarding your suggestion to stream the ReBoot episodes, that unfortunately is not possible because it would be in violation of our distribution and broadcast agreements. But like you, we want to encourage more fan activity for ReBoot which is why we started the ReBoot Reborn campaign and then launched reboot.com with the webcomic, and have plans to do even more in advance of the ReBoot film."
The issue has to do with availability. For instance, Teletoon Retro currently pays to broadcast ReBoot. If the episodes were available online for free, then nobody would watch it on Teletoon Retro (I still would, for the nostalgic "ReBoot will return after these messages!").
As for the DVDs, I believe it was Mr. Blair himself who clarified once. The rights issues I believe entirely revolve around a tentative agreement with Universal.
As posted further down, we'll be the first to hear if an American network signed for ReBoot episodes. Until then, anything's possible.
As for voice actors, I could not see Rainmaker cast others for the voices unless funding became an issue. Anybody could correct me on this, but isn't the voicing decided during post production?
1. If the new movie is going in a direction that is different from the one that Gavin and crew would have gone, would it be possible for them to continue the series? Someone asked a question about the Hunt and the reply was "Wouldn't you want Gavin to tell that story?"
2. Would it be possible to have Gavin and crew finish telling all of the stories that the fans want (i.e. end of the hunt, Bob and Dot getting together, more background info on the characters, etc etc) and still have the movie?
3. I know I'm getting way ahead of myself here, but would it be possible to have Gavin's stories in a DVD boxset? That way, we'd have all 4 seasons and a 'season 5' of all the other ReBoot stories that haven't been told. Just the thought of that is making me drool. :)
4. What characters will be in the movie and will they be changed and if so, how much will they be changed?
5. If a DVD boxset does come out will it have lots of behind the scenes action? Sort of like Fast Forward: the Making of Reboot but with a whole lot more? Like watching the voice actors rehearse or storyboards being written or writers thinking up spoofs and references to put in?
Man, 1000 characters is just not enough space, especially with all of us ReBoot geeks. :)
will you recreate the city of mainframe?
will you keep all the characters we love?
will i be able to buy a completer set on DVD! ? my video tapes are wearing out
Saboooom you know I wish I could get the answers to those... lol.
From what I have gathered through many contacts, the movie will NOT be a conclusion to The Hunt. It doesn't seem like a wise financial venture. Plus, wouldn't you rather have Gavin tell that tale?
At this point, release date would be very tentative. I would rather it be later and high quality though.
Has Rainmaker explored options regarding the creation of ReBoot Fan Conventions, or a presence at some pre-existing conventions (ComicCon, AnimeBoston, NYComicCon, DragonCon, etc)?
As much as I abhor the Twilight franchise - Summit Entertainment's doing an excellent job of maintaining a dedicated and connected fandom through the creation of a series of nationally accessible Twilight conventions; and while it doesn't seem to make much sense to execute something of that scale for a project that currently is just a concept...once a ball is rolling it can only gain momentum.

What characters are returning from the original series?
What merchandise shall we be expecting to be able to buy for the new movie?
Have you talked to any of the original creators/ writers to help with the movie?
If no, then why not?

Tough questions to answer, but at a minimum I would love to see a Rainmaker store go up ^-^

Do you think you could convince Cartoon Network to start airing ReBoot again? Or another cartoon channel?
Do you have plans to bring the creators back to the project?
Do you plan to bring back all of the original voice actors?

I'd prefer a game where you could just walk / zipboard Mainframe. After all, PCs have the rendering power now... I can dream can't I?
Haha a game would be awesome :)

Ahh the joys of TV tuners and using them to digitize VHS tapes.
I taped the whole series from YTV once, in order, over the course of like 39 weeks. The tapes are somewhere...

Why have you not asked Gavin Blair and Ian Pearson to come back?

I think it's because they want to take it in another direction. Nevertheless, I'll probably get enough of this question to ask them anyways.

Is this new movie going to take place after the hunt, before the hunt, or in a completely different timeline altogether?
When can we expect this movie to be released? 2010? 11? 12?
Are we ever going to see Hex again?
When are you going to get the rights and the funding for a DVD Box Set?
How much of the original cast and crew are going to be involved with the movie?

Will the movies be theatrical and will they continue the story or create a new story arch?
Will the characters be mostly unaltered?
Is there any chance of my idea being used or any similar ideas being used for the movies?

You fail physics forever. ;P
But yeah, anything to drum up interest would be great, and this series lends itself to the convention scene very well.
