dont you guys think your nitpicking? since when was reboot about the Voice Actors? Its about the world inside the machine, Mainframe;the Net and the ongoing battle of programs and viruses. its about the adventures inside a virtual world.
i always perceived Reboot as my generations Tron and would love to see it get "rebooted" in a sense.
With the voice actors, they might get lucky and find one really close to the origonal, but on the other hand, they might get an annoying one, like on Sailor Moon second actor. Whatever the case I'm sure they will keep all their fans in mind, when the time comes.
"Whatever the case I'm sure they will keep all their fans in mind, when the time comes."
Except.... they've more or less been disregarding anything the fans have to say as of late. Not to mention we rarely see much to keep us interested. Ok, sure the series will FINALLY be on DVD.... and then?.... What will Rainmaker do to keep the supposedly 20,000+ fans registered here interested? They really dropped the ball when it came to keeping people interested after the hype for the web-comic died down.
i just wish rainmaker would give us a weekly or monthly or even biimonthly update on the progress or something so we're not left in the dark. it doesn't even have to be long. just some reassurance would be nice.
I second that, I mean, I thought the original intention of this website was to convey our thoughts and opinions on a recreation and its process, in an organized manner to maintain a "by the fan, for the fan" goal to Rainmaker. All in an effort to make sure, if a rebirth is even happening, that it's done completely on par. If we don't have any updates, how are we supposed to know what in the world (of ReBoot) is going on? What happens if they make a choice that totally grinds the gears of all ReBoot fandom, that could of easily been remedied by letting us know that it was an idea and getting our take on it? I understand that we are not the writers, producers, or directors but we ARE the fans, and i think that needs to count for something, both, in the forums, and in this supposed recreation.
The comic adaptation FAILED to capture the ReBoot spirit. It was promising but lost it when the characters started to do things. They just did NOT act like the characters we saw on the show. Plus, we will not ever feel like we are getting a genuine continuation if we can't see what happened right after the M2B cliffhanger. We didn't get to see anything resolved from it. I was eager to see if Hack and Slash still had alliance issues in the comic but they weren't even mentioned and nothing was brought up about Welman Matrix's relationship with his kids. It was awkward seeing Enzo becoming a guardian without Null-Bot Welman there. The comic couldn't answer these questions and they didn't even attempt to answer their own questions because I kept not getting what was going on.
That said I think rainmaker needs a chance to fix it by at least consulting the creators. The project needs to be fixed to make it can work. I think it can be fixed AND can work. There's still hope.
I agree, it was well written, and well drawn, but it wasn't well connected to the end of Daemon Rising. It would make a great future for the series, if, and only if, there some filler to let us all know what happened in between.
What I truly want to see if they can at least make a decent effort to connect with the past series and make everything sense. Like I can understand why it would be a fail if it doesn't work out but if they are trying to bring reboot back to life... least take a chance.
But why not just try to make another alternative world of reboot that makes sense to this era? Since some people think its over just because they're not going to have the same voice actors? Give it a chance; maybe they do have to make a completely new plot and in new heroes and villains just to make those group of people happy.
(Think that what they did to Digimon.. for example... it still about Digimon but they had new plots new directions, new heroes and villains?)
I do like what they did to bring the fans back together, its amazing how many people still care about this show~! I hope something good does come out of this.
I think it's fantastic that the ReBoot community is going to have any opportunity at all to see the revival of the franchise, so it doesn't matter to me whether there are some changes that are made -- sure, there are going to be challenges, and not everyone is going to be satisfied, but a lot of fans are going to be excited, and hopefully we can catch a lot of new fans, too.
As for the voice acting issue, I thought that all of the voice acting switches that were done during the first seasons were done well, and I have confidence that future changes would also be done well. Replacing Megabyte's voice would of course be a challenge, as Tony Jay was an extremely talented individual. I'm sure someone would be up to the job, though.
Well when they found a new voice actor for glitch-bob i didnt really notice so i thought that was done well. But the voice-actor who played megabyte.....really brought the character to life. As for the story, reboot always had those quarky moments where they would mix in a corney joke and a computer reference( ie hack and slash were covering there ascii's) which is hard to put on paper in the first place.
All i can say is the show doesnt need to be all ACTION and nonstop DRAMA, networks pump into their shows instead of a better plot.
Also, thank you all, including rainmaker, for keeping reboot alive. I'm still really pumped that people are giving a new reboot attention, but i wouldnt mind getting the old series on dvd....so maybe that can happen?
It's understandable that the webcomic was fan made and rushed, so it wasn't up to the same standard as the series, but that doesn't mean it sucked. So typing this next bit has had a lot of thought go into it.
If the true spirit of ReBoot cannot be kept, they shouldn't really bother continuing on; people will notice and they will not be amused. If they cannot keep the actual spirit as it was established and grew, then they should just make something that parallels the series, instead of redoing the series.
They'll need to get the voices as close as possible, using the original voice actors if possible (RIP Tony Jay) or the next best match.
The setting should remain as close to Mainframe as they can keep it
They should also keep the music as close to the music in the series as possible. Nothing overly fancy, just enough to establish the atmosphere and hold it for the duration (would Showdown have been as awesome with way more music than it had? Not likely)
I find myself agreeing with some of you, unfortunately, but I still have faith in Rainmaker doing the right thing by the fanbase. First, I think they need to get a writer and some scripts going. The BEST thing they could do right now is hire the original crew. After all, no one knows ReBoot better than Phil Mitchell and Gavin Blair. If they don't have a hand in the story, I can almost guarantee that it's not going to feel "right." Next, they need to bring back the original voices and the best replacements they can find (and I say replacement with the utmost respect). In addition, I think everyone here will agree with me when I say, SHOW US SOME WORK! Concept art, trailers, even sound bites!
Rainmaker, please don't leave us in the dark. If you're going to do this, do it with all your heart and soul.
All I can say is that it's been a tough year for Rainmaker. This whole stock market joke has taken a toll on them, and so the gears are turning, just VERY slowly.
