I find myself agreeing with some of you, unfortunately, but I still have faith in Rainmaker doing the right thing by the fanbase. First, I think they need to get a writer and some scripts going. The BEST thing they could do right now is hire the original crew. After all, no one knows ReBoot better than Phil Mitchell and Gavin Blair. If they don't have a hand in the story, I can almost guarantee that it's not going to feel "right." Next, they need to bring back the original voices and the best replacements they can find (and I say replacement with the utmost respect). In addition, I think everyone here will agree with me when I say, SHOW US SOME WORK! Concept art, trailers, even sound bites!
Rainmaker, please don't leave us in the dark. If you're going to do this, do it with all your heart and soul.
All I can say is that it's been a tough year for Rainmaker. This whole stock market joke has taken a toll on them, and so the gears are turning, just VERY slowly.
There's one voice actor they can't bring back. The original voice of Megabyte is no longer among the living and will be missed. Though i've heard there were some others up for consideration for that voice.
I personally wouldn't mind hearing the voice actor of Megatron from Beast Wars take a crack at it. He's now currently the voice of Optimus Prime on Transformers Animated.
The comic adaptation FAILED to capture the ReBoot spirit. It was promising but lost it when the characters started to do things. They just did NOT act like the characters we saw on the show. Plus, we will not ever feel like we are getting a genuine continuation if we can't see what happened right after the M2B cliffhanger. We didn't get to see anything resolved from it. I was eager to see if Hack and Slash still had alliance issues in the comic but they weren't even mentioned and nothing was brought up about Welman Matrix's relationship with his kids. It was awkward seeing Enzo becoming a guardian without Null-Bot Welman there. The comic couldn't answer these questions and they didn't even attempt to answer their own questions because I kept not getting what was going on.
That said I think rainmaker needs a chance to fix it by at least consulting the creators. The project needs to be fixed to make it can work. I think it can be fixed AND can work. There's still hope.
I agree, it was well written, and well drawn, but it wasn't well connected to the end of Daemon Rising. It would make a great future for the series, if, and only if, there some filler to let us all know what happened in between.
I partially agree with you, however, I still think we should ''trust'' Rainmaker at this point. I'm sure they realise that the original writers and voice actors would be an asset to ReBoot's revival.
I just joined this community two days ago, so I haven't read the online comic yet... I only looked through it once. From what I've seen, the characters have changed a little in appearance, which I do not like. Of course, new ideas are welcome, absolutely. But I think that the characters should STAY THE WAY THEY WERE.
And for the fact that fans want to know what is happening behind the scenes at Rainmaker... I totally agree with Caden. We want to know more about the progress Rainmaker is making, if they're making any progress at all.
But as I see things, and how I loved ReBoot and like I still do, the story should be focused on Mainframe more. And like I stated before, I think ALL the characters should stay the way they were.
About your characters thing:
Nah. I don't think they should stay as "the way they were." Do you mean all the way back, to episode one? Definitely not, then. People grow and change, and the best characters in stories grow and change the way they would if they were actual people. Obviously, this also creates a change in appearance; do you dress now the same way you did five years ago? Do you look the same? Hopefully not, or, even, hopefully you do, because then you've invented cryosleep and I want it.
How do you knw Rainmaker's gonna restar the series from scratch? How do you know they're gonna reboot Reboot? Personally, if Reboot ended with season 3 and Turbo never mentioned Daemon, a complete revival of the show wouldn't bother me as much. All I want to see is what happens to Mainframe now that Megabyte is in the principle office (which he has been for the past 8 years lol). As for the voice actors, there have been replacement voice actors on the show before which didn't do too much damage. I mean, there were several voice actors who play Enzo and throughout the show I didn't notice. Also, in the middle of season 3, they had a new voice actor who played Hack (or maybe it was Slash, which every the red one was) and I was happy with that because the new voice of Hack was less annoying. I was, however disappointed when the voice of Bob was replaced.
Anyway, I'm sure they would be able to get some of the original cast members back along with new ones who can do similar voices.
they haven't said anything about that happening yet. They haven't brought in the creators YET
and they haven't even announced voices so no one knows if the original cast is coming back or not...it's too early to tell
i just wish rainmaker would give us a weekly or monthly or even biimonthly update on the progress or something so we're not left in the dark. it doesn't even have to be long. just some reassurance would be nice.
I second that, I mean, I thought the original intention of this website was to convey our thoughts and opinions on a recreation and its process, in an organized manner to maintain a "by the fan, for the fan" goal to Rainmaker. All in an effort to make sure, if a rebirth is even happening, that it's done completely on par. If we don't have any updates, how are we supposed to know what in the world (of ReBoot) is going on? What happens if they make a choice that totally grinds the gears of all ReBoot fandom, that could of easily been remedied by letting us know that it was an idea and getting our take on it? I understand that we are not the writers, producers, or directors but we ARE the fans, and i think that needs to count for something, both, in the forums, and in this supposed recreation.
With the voice actors, they might get lucky and find one really close to the origonal, but on the other hand, they might get an annoying one, like on Sailor Moon second actor. Whatever the case I'm sure they will keep all their fans in mind, when the time comes.

Except.... they've more or less been disregarding anything the fans have to say as of late. Not to mention we rarely see much to keep us interested. Ok, sure the series will FINALLY be on DVD.... and then?.... What will Rainmaker do to keep the supposedly 20,000+ fans registered here interested? They really dropped the ball when it came to keeping people interested after the hype for the web-comic died down.

Also, the voice actor of megabyte died a few years ago. How would you tackle that obstacle?

I'm sure Rainmaker is considering bringing them back, but it's unfortunate to hear you will not be satisfied with any variations.
