As I recall, there was some kind of confusion between the writers and the network as to how much time was allotted for the episodes.

As it happened, the writers found themselves at the end of Act 2, (the cliffhanger) with no time to finish Act 3.

The way they tell it, they had two choices: Make a really crappy ending that crams everything in but it has a resolution, OR make a decent show, but with a cliffhanger. They went with what they felt the fans would most appreciate.

Unfortunately, they made the cliffhanger in the hopes that the networks would pick it up again for a continuation, but it never worked out.

It's quite ironic, since they actually finished Season 3, with the intention of that being the END, but it wasn't. Personally, I think it would have been better overall if it had ended there. If there was still a revival, it would be easier to except a complete restart of the series.

It sounds like resolving "the Hunt" is not a major priority. It'll be a new show.

So the revival is planned to just be 3 films correct? Are there any plans for a new tv series? If they atleast mention what happened in the hunt during the movie I will be satisfied as all I'm looking for is continuity and extremely importantly, the continued evolution of the characters. Because I have looked at alot of posts here and while people loved the cool graphics etc it was the story and the characters that kept many of us watching. I hope it comes out early in 2010 and they don't ruin the years of finely tuned character evolution that the previous makers put so much effort in to.

As for the new movie, the official statement is here

Now regarding the 4th season, from what I can remember there was a whole lot of shenanigans going on with Cartoon Network and Mainframe Ent. Originally, it was 3 movies in 4 arch episodes. The 3rd movie was cancelled - leaving the 2nd movie on a cliffhanger. I don't know why the 3rd movie wasn't made direct to video. But Cartoon Network didn't want to air (or pay) for the 3rd movie.

I don't know how accurate this was because there was a lot of misinformation going on back in those days. Additionally, Cartoon Network was "transitioning" in management, so that made things worse. Just bad management over all.

So the comic is basically as much as we are going to get on the hunt I guess. I can forgive this if they make solid reboot movie to be honest and I really hope they bring back the series.

Are any of the original creators or writers still involved? I believe someone said that most of the voice actors were but I'm not sure if that was accurate.

I actually like having the cliffhanger. I think it leaves the show open-ended with many possibilities. Although, I didn't like the fact that Megabyte came back...AGAIN; I liked the Daemon thing and the My Two Bobs but I think it would've been cooler if they added a new villain to be the pretend Bob
(although, it being Megabyte was creepy which made it cool but still!)

as to the original voice actors, writers, creators, etc coming back: I haven't heard anything but that the creators haven't been asked to come back and help with anything. Of course, that was earlier in the year and it might've changed.

I think we are all just waiting to here even a single detail about how far along the film is.

They had a third movie for season 4, to explain the Hunt and what became of the characters. It was to end with a musical 13th episode explaining all the events of the whole show.

The network dropped ReBoot with no interest to continue it. The writers then argued over what to do next, on where the show should go. They stuck with the cliff-hanger ending in the hope of ReBoot continuing.

Which is where we come in.
