For all of you who have been following the ReBoot Revival project (http://www.ReBoot.com), there have been a few weeks of questioning the quality of the content being produced.
As a fellow fan who has been following the comic since book 1, I have as well noticed a change in the way the comic has been directed. It has taken a direction that we are not familiar with in the ReBoot universe. And recently, there have been so many changes from scene to scene, it feels a bit crammed together.
Maybe it's in my opinion, but I feel we are rushing the team too much. With high fan demands, and little word on the progress on Rainmaker's side, we turn to the Revival team and have expectations to "wow" us until Rainmaker makes an announcement.
With the past few weeks, I truly believe we should give the Revival team, at the very least, a holiday break to come up with some material, an...

Read More...Right. This has already been posted on the Java Hut and Reboot.cc. I'm posting it here because there's a better chance of Rainmaker reading posts on those blogs than here and on ReBoot.cc and the Java Hut because we are but quiet little fan communities.
At first I thought the surveys were a really good idea, I have to admit. But upon reflection... they really are just generic surveys. And the topics, while "specific", are jumping around all over the place. I'm failing to see how these kinds of questions would help them really. Maybe they're trying to figure out how to advertise to the general public? Is that why we're being asked what social networking sites we use?
I sincerely hope that's the case. It was only happenstance that I actually came to learn about the whole revival project, and in all honestly I consider it to be an extreme (but very lucky) fluke that I happened to find GB's revival site only a couple of months b... -

Read More...Some of you may already be groaning, some may already be excited, but hear me out.
In 1996 a cartoon called Road Rovers was canceled at the end of its thirteenth episode. The announcement came as a shock to fans; It was aired by Warner Brothers, and had shown ratings rivaling its other hit show at the time, Superman. Many reasons were cited, including legal restrictions (Legislation had been just been passed requiring a certain amount of educational cartoon time on major networks (Read, Captain Planet)), as well as inappropriate humor (The writers, in an effort to expand the audience to include teens and even adults, sometimes inserted adult references or jokes sure to go over young viewers heads), but ultimately it came down to, "Because we said so."
The show was picked up by Cartoon Network for another two years, shown only as re-runs, before it was once again taken off the air, this time... -

Read More...Maybe you're not old enough to remember, but vinyl records had the most awesome covers. There's so much more room on a big cardboard sleeve than there is on a CD liner, or an MP3 cover art file for that matter. My first record I ever got was Synchronicity by The Police and my second was Business as Usual by Men At Work. These are both still very close to my heart. Hopefully I was channeling some of their vibe when I did this fan art for Morgan Jeske's Gustav Hayes: Lounge Singer of the Apocalypse.

Those of you familiar with my recent attempts at art will be surprised with the effort I put into this one. It still wouldn't get me a passing grade on a grade 4 art project, but hey, I try, and make do with what I have lying around the old homestead.
This one took me a couple of days. The "briefcase" was kind of fiddly, but then I realized, it's supposed to be mangled!

ReBoot Movies
Posted in The Story so far..., 2 years ago
Read More...With the understanding that the writer has been chosen for the new ReBoot movies, it continues to make me wonder what the result will be. I'd love to see the series have a new look but still have the essence of the original. Let's not let the movies and graphics follow a fad and have the ReBoot movies be forgotten years down the road.
Think of it this way, the new Batman movie, The Dark Night, has already been reviewed with great results. It has a full story that follows the Joker, Batman, and Harvey Dent, and has great cinematography and special effects to boot. It does things we've never seen in the Batman series. This is what ReBoot needs... a kick in the butt to get a fresh start while breaking boundaries and not relying on gimmicks.

Seems that reaction to the comic has been quit positive and I’m pleased to see that. All of us worked extremely hard on it and a lot of talented people have sacrificed a lot of time and effort to make something we were all happy with.
But of all the Reboot images that have ever been made I’d dare say that no one has put as much time and effort into an image as I’ve put into this one. I’d really like to hear your thoughts on it, and if you like it I encourage you to take it and let it spread like a virus throughout the web. I’m going to post this low res version first but I’ll attempt to post the hi res version on here as well.

Rainmaker, what are you...

Read More...Well, there's been a lot of talk about ReBoot, lately, between the web-comic that is being made and the movies that are underway by Rainmaker. I just thought I would blog about this, as I'm not seeing any concern raised over what are hasty decisions on Rainmaker's part.
Don't get me wrong, I love ReBoot, and would love nothing more than for it's return in one animated form or another, but, from what I know of the situation, this is all wrong. I was so excited when I heard of the initiative to bring ReBoot back, first by letting a fan-picked team create a comic, perhaps to raise excitement about ReBoot and draw in new fans, and then by what is apparently a movie trilogy. Now here's where it all goes horribly, horribly awry...
There is no Gavin Blair, Ian Pearson, or Phil Mitchell! (or John Grace, though I'm not sure if he was even involved in season 4) That’s right, as far as I know, there has been no contact between Rainmaker and t...

Read More...There is one word in here that makes this analysis at least PG 13; even though there is only one word I just don't want to take an chances.
One relationship that would be interesting to portray in future series of Reboot is how Matrix's relationship with his brother Enzo will progress when he becomes a young adult. And what would be interesting is if their relationship is portrayed like Sam and Dean Winchester from the WB's Supernatural series.
First off I don't think that showing Enzo asa young adult means that there will be a second Matrix. If anything it can show how different he is, no matter how similar he looks like Matrix. For one thing Enzo is a Guardian and Matrix is a Guardian Enforcer; both work to protect the net but in different ways. The difference in his personality will also set him apart. With Matrix, there were signs of his infamous temper when he was little; though Enzo showed signs of the...

The nature of the story, however, makes it largely silent, with almost no dialogue ["Shocking!" say my detractors!], and will rest squarely on solid illustration.
As such, I'm going to present this as a bit of a challenge, or rather, an experiment, if you will. This is a call to the Z2H artistic community, those with the time or the inclination. I will get the script written up, and I will give it to whoever wants to try their hand at it. What I&...

God how I used to love that show, I'd watch it every thursday at 4:30 on CITV (I'm English, just to clear that up now) and I used to have the PlayStation game too. I loved it, I love the characters, the situations, the references to computers and so on and so forth.

But anyway - I'm not much good at drawing and all that arty stuff, bur I've always had a passion and a flair for writing, so I've decided to start giving this a serious go, to see what I can make of it. I stopped by to say I hope all of you trying to submit ideas for comics are doing well and although my taste is different in comic books, that each of you have some kind of success in the New Year especially Zeros 2 Heroes.
We need more small comic companies to fill the growing void of frustrated fans who feel abandoned. I read some of the responses to Marvel's wonderful decision to erase Peter Parker's marriage from existence. Marvel does Dallas! I'm referring to the TV show that made an entire season of the show a dream. But this isn't any dream. Now fans are looking at dozens of comic book that didn't happen. Great idea guys! Why not kill Captain America while your at it? Oops...
Anyway my friend form college Mike vowed long ago never to buy a Marvel or DC title ever again before this happened. He still buys comics. From Dark Horse! I remembered them as a start up.

I was extremely happy with the two movies. By two movies I mean "Daemon Rising" and "My Two Bobs", I do not see them as 8 episodes. I was disgusted on leaving it on a cliffhanger, its a slap in the face for the fans, but I guess I can't really say anything since we are finally getting more!

I had a bit of back and forth with Professor WizzyWig regarding the use of capes.
I've sort of taken Edna Mode from The Incredibles a bit too seriously. I personally am not thrilled about capes on superheroes anymore.Don't get me wrong. I don't hate capes. What's Superman or Batman without capes? Those characters needed them for affect. A flying character looks good in a cape. So do villians. Darth Vadar needs a cape. So does Doctor Doom. It adds menace. But if you redid Superman, would you want a cape? Legion of Superheroes took the clone Superman concept and turned him into a new design that shows capes can be removed. Read More...Yesterday as I went looking for reference for the comic project I started looking through my book collection. I have a nasty habit of buying books and then never reading them or reading them and forgetting I ever bought them.
And what do I find? Disney's Treasure Planet. The making of the movie. I have some great stills of John Silver's cyborg set up. It's not quite right for Matrix. I want his arm to look more like Al from Full Metal Alchemist, but its nice to have.
I also have the Art of Robots! I hated the plot of that movie. It needed so much work. But you can't have a better example of steampunk robots then in that movie. Great stuff for me to work with when designing Ether.
