Well, it has been an eventful few days hasn't it? I've been looking at all the comments, reading blogs and not even posted my own reviews yet. I MUST be lazy or something!
Nah, I'm doing what I do best, watching people. What are they saying? Mostly, they want a continuation to the Hunt storyline and not to mess with the originalformat. As Phong would say, "Oh dear!"
I think the point that most of you are missing are, things HAVE to change. A whole new audience needs to be brought in, and not at point where they're wondering "What the hell is going on?!?" and promptly play on their PS3. The target audience for this relaunch is mid to late teens, I know this because I asked that very same question on the conference call earlier this week.
The attention span of a mid to late teen isn't very long and if they don't "Get it" chances are they'll not come back to it. Before you start moaning at me, this is probably not the case for the majority of the people on this site, for the simple reason that you have taken the time and effort to come here and give your feedback on something you feel VERY passionately about. But true for everyone else.
Let's be honest, if the Hunt came to our screens in 2008 we would ALL watch it. But we would be the only ones. Due to the history that has taken place and threads that have intertwined, a non-booter wouldn't give it a second thought. And THAT is the greatest tragedy of all.
The Hunt CAN be told in flashbacks and it's a format that WORKS for those of you with long term memory loss, perhaps you should watch "Megaframe" from season three. As for not changing the characters... it's been said a million times, that EVERYTHING that's being done here is adaptable. Please don't shout at the artists, they are timid creatures who don't like confrontation. And as for NOT changing the look and feel of the characters, perhaps you would have prefered the ORIGINAL concept design from UK Artist Ian Gibson.

Well said, I think alot of people are too caught up on wanting to see how the old reboot ended.
But alot of people would agree, these pitches on their own do not stand up. From looking at some of them, I feel there is some talented writers and artists. But they're a little off track. Some of them are entirely getting off the reason why we all loved reboot. Turning it into a Dark Sci-Fi. One of those ones that people watch, but don't understand and decide to leave alone in a couple of weeks. Some of ones who have the right humor, the right stuff, don't have the right art direction or have some weird ideas that don't gel with the original world. I thought from the original press snippit about Reboot Rebooted was that we would be going back to the beginning and started again, Same set of world rules, But new directions, new choices, new stories.
All I've seen is in the future, in space, mind control of users, airborne pathogens (Don't get me started on that), upgraded, next generation and sentient systems (A thing that the previous world rules would have never been able to manage).
Everyone just needs to go back - Dot and Enzo are living in Mainframe, Phong's Command.com(Something I think all the writers have forgotten when going by O.S. thinking, the system is the world. the command.com would be the thing that's making things happen) and Bob's a newly arrived Guardian (or whatever he becomes) in the system. There are two Viruses in the system.
Add Characters, Take away characters, Change setting, changer personalities and art direction - But keep the crux. The thing that makes it loveable by more then just the dark sci-fi lovers. The Humour.

*snort* *snicker* I remember that artwork! Ian's still seething about how the show was ruined because no one went with his ideas. XD The art was...cute though.
Still, in the case of The Hunt, it couldn't hurt, in that case, to do it at some point in the future. I'd imagine it to be mainly corridor evasions in the Principal Office though, but with that being how the show ended, we were all left with the wondering of what was going to happen next, not five years after the cliff-hanger conflict was already resolved.
Is it possible that before Megabyte could take up his Hunt for vengeance that Gnosis interrupted everything? Wow, Mainframe has the worst luck. :)

There are a few of us here who feel the same. If we want to attract a new audience we need to dump the baggage.

what we need is to wrap up the old story and move on, NOT COMPLETELY get rid of the old cast, but put them on the back burner so we can always come back to them if needed, we need some type of flashback, or a visit to another system or something like that to transition from the orignial "mainframers" story to a new one

I think you're missing the point Guardian452. You can't start a series by ending the Hunt. It just won't work if you are trying to get a new audience. It's what we want, I admit it, but it's not what ReBoot needs if it's to get itself off the ground again.

the series started in the middle though (first episode started out hack and slash chasing bob)
think about it though...i think we need to recap what has happened...just to end it....then quickly go into a new storyline...if we can get a deal with Cartoon Network or ABC again, then we can show bits and pieces of recaps in commercials...then start with a quick recap so new people will be "mostly" up to date...then go into a new story line...
i see what you mean though, it does have some problems....but i beleive that we AT LEAST owe it to sum up what happened...just in one episode...then we cane move on

Justice, its going to be hell deciding on how to start Reboot then even what story lines we should go with. ha ha ha, i guess everyone will figure out someway to decide.

BUT if we do go with OS system or Reboot 2.0
we should have flashbacks on the old series...that way NOT ONLY there is a new story line, BUT newer viewers can see how the characters were
i dont know, its hard to think how the new reboot should start

I hope so too, or at least take some of what I'm saying on board. ReBoot literally needs to be ReBooted... that's not to say can what's taken place before or start again, but start a new story where those who've never watched the series can start and not feel like they've missed anything out. I personally feel that the Hunt shouldn't even be mentioned until the 3rd movie and retold as events passed. A continuation is seriously out of the question and those who feel otherwise are just deluding themselves to think that Rainmaker or Z2H would entertain such an idea. If the people upstairs wanted to flush money down the toilet that would be the perfect way to do it and kill the ReBoot franchise once and for all. STOP WITH THE HUNT! FORGET IT! MOVE ON!
