Dreams vs. Reality

1 Like This

Okay. I keep panicking.

I slept maybe 5 hours last night and I couldn't draw a thing. I totally freaked out. I felt like I can't do this.

But if I can't do this, how did I get that diploma from F.I.T. Did I cheat?

Maybe I feel like I took the easy road. Graphic arts doesn't take as much. No buildings or fancy vehicles. Cute, cuddly, fluffy things are what I do.
Mickey, Pooh and Dora are my friends. I seems far too easy compared to this.

Then I remembered a man named Moses. How many excuses did he make to God? He did everything to could think of to get out of it. And what he did was a lot more important.

I got a gift. Am I going to bury my talent in the ground?

This isn't a dream. This is reality. I have at least do my best even if I've never tried to draw Mainframe before.

And I know I have this isssue with my back. Actually my left shoulder blade. I have to go to physical therapy tonight so I can't really work on the script until Thursday night. I don't want my problem to stop me either. And I am a lefty.

Sorry I get so emotional Jeff. I'll PM you my office email in case you want to tell me anything during work hours.

Back to drawing butterflies instead of growing them in my stomach.

Sometimes when I'm stressed out I can't write or draw. Or talk straight, or DDR worth a crap. From your posts, you sound bery nervous about this project. But I believe you can do it, and judging by your selection to be on the team some other people do too.

I have a feeling that once you get your tasks nailed down, when you have something in your hands as opposed to an as-yet-undefined role, you'll feel a lot better about it.

I starting drinking coffee only last year! LOL
Iced! Can't drink it hot. It's too strong.
I will drink more herb tea with honey.

It's opposite for me. When I get stressed out drawing calms me down and I become more relaxed. But if I have to draw as an assignment then all bets are off.

And don't worry. You have the talent to draw Mainframe. I would recommend looking at pictures or art to help inspire you on whatever scene you are about to draw; that is what I did for the awesome contest I tapped into my reaction to the fanart pic of young Hannibal for insane Avatar Enzo.

    Hey,

This may sound cliched, but, just draw for yourself. I mean, follow the script given to you, but draw it the way you think it should look. Act as if you are doing this on your own. I still get the same feeling when someone asks for a comission or hands me a script and says "draw this". I immediately hit the panic button. It'll pass though. You'll sit back and realize, that yes, you can do this. It's just that easy!
    Ugh I am no help.

Deep breath. You may need a little fresh air and a bit of a break. Take your sketchbook with you (Or whatever it is you draw in) and take a walk. Just wander and see if anything strikes you. Whenever it does, just sit down (Unless you're in the middle of a street, then finish crossing before sitting) and draw. It helps me get through writer's blocks anyway.

Oh, and as a side note, if you're on a busy street and you happen to be wearing a hat, put it out in front of you. By the time you're done sketching, you might have enough money for hot chocolate!

I can see it in my head. The things won't get on the paper! And They have to by tonight. Julian wants a rough. Rough is the right word.

My suggestion: you could try starting out with some loose doodles on a piece of scratch paper. Just scribble whatever you like at first to loosen up, then doodle ideas for panels. Working up to an intimidating task in this way helps me greatly; it might work for you.

I'm mostly a writer, but I also draw to be able to describe the objects and things in my stories, and not just for fanfiction, and sometimes I have trouble writing what's in my head or drawing what's in my head, because of the high energy I always have. Yes, I can see the problem I'm on a major writers block myself, but ideas will come in due time. But good luck I'm sure you'll find something.
