Basically there's been all this talk of the movies and how they want to follow a different story line and make it more accessible to everyone.
Yet it would just be a disservice to every fan of the original series. I mean for everyone who has hung onto the cliff hanger of season 4, waiting and hoping for a revival.
I'm sorry but as nice as the comic continuation is... it's just not the same. Not to mention it breaks the flow of how the show ended.
I can't be the only one who wants to see the original characters as they last were, with the original voice actors and all the wacky moments and tv/movie references. I hope that these things don't get missed in the screen adaptation.
I just felt the need to discuss the fact that the movies should follow the TV show... not simply take place in the ReBoot world and have ReBoot type characters and stuff.

That is exactly why I'm skeptical to the idea of a movie. They should just continue from where they left off. Maybe add in a movie later but not right after an 8-year cliffhanger.

They're probably doing a movie since the fourth season was originally handled in movie-sized bites... come to think of it, Season 3, while not divided into movies, had the 4-episode arcs, and theoretically could be, although why anyone would want to broadcast the episodes like that I'm not sure...

They need to clear up the cliff hanger first before a movie, and you'll probably find it'll be a next gen game rather than a new series, and if there is a new movie i hope it isn't as bad a Dragonball Evolution, but with nearly 8 years of hype the movie may need exceed most fans expectations

I agree as well. We need to start right where ReBoot left off. I don't want any drastic changes to the environment or the characters. The 'hunt' definitely needs to be continued and they can go from there. I only hope that Gavin and crew will be able to contribute to it because it is their baby after all.

Personally I would also like to see more flashbacks with the characters like when Bob and Mouse were in the supercomputer together or when AndrAIa and Matrix were just starting out gamehopping.
I know I just mentioned this, but there are some loose ends that need to be worked on like the'hunt' and Bob and Dot getting back together (for good this time!) and basically having more character depth and developement like in S3.

It's been an awfully long time since Season 4 ended, the average viewer simply wouldn't remember the old storylines from almost ten years ago, which would make a straight continuation from S4 tricky to do.
I'd still love to see the old, familiar characters from ReBoot and not just something set in the same world, but I'll be happy as long as it's actually good and not just a cash-in.

The Hunt definately needs to be continued. Veiwers that don't remember can rewatch it on the web. Since shows like Family Guy and the Simpsons have come out and the original fans are all older now it should come back as a more mature comedy, one that will allow Matrix to be even more badass then ever. His change was the most interesting twist in the series and just makes Bob seem even more campy now, even though he fell back to second fiddle when Bob reappeared. I don't want Megabyte to be deleted too quickly. He should be forced to flee... to the supercomputer! Where he causes Hex to be defragged and recompiled, with some additions from Daemons code in all the infected sprites. Then they both get copied and 1 set merges (possibly with the web creature) to create a new virus "We are Terrabyte, fear us". A supervirus with both Hex and Megs personalities struggling for control, while still having Hex and Megs around. I'd like to say more but the characters remaining is running out.

The fact is that the movie, if it is meant to be anything more than simple fanservice (and I hope it is more than that), cannot directly continue the cliffhanger. The easiest way I see this being done is by having the movie start with Megabite having already taken over Mainframe, and they can explain how he took over in flashbacks (hopefully better than what the comic did). The problem with that is that we already had that in season 3.
The alternative, which is probably better, could be to have the movie start in the middle of the action, like a Bond movie. Have the opening be right where the last episode left off, and after a quick action scene that establishes the characters and world, things calm down and the real plot picks up. Megabite could be defeated (temporarily, since we don't want him just being killed off at the beginning of the movie), or at least prevented from taking over Mainframe again, and then they can set up the plot in a world that is accessible to new viewers.

If you continue the old story you basically cut off any interest from a possible new audience. And now you are appealing *only* to the fans.
They should probably do something that is in the middle. Please new fans with throw backs to the original show, but have a new story for new fans.
Reboot the show has been over for a long time. I think going back to the drawing board is a good idea. Since a lot of the old ideas may not work in 2010.
