ReBoot

Pfft, ahahah! I'm sure most of you know what trolls are. They are the annoying scum of the internet whose only purpose seems to be to cause trouble. But there's really a lot more to them, and the inside jokes they have, and learning the intricacies of trolling could really help someone fend off a troll.

So I think it would be neat if, in some parallel universe where ReBoot continues as a TV series, a troll virus was introduced, even if for an episode.

Think about it. Someone who causes the chaos of Hex with the foresight of Megs. There is a pattern to their madness and the grief they cause to everyone around them. Perhaps they're even putting on a show for other troll viruses who are watching, as is usually the case with real trolls. How can this not work?

A troll virus would have to work by the same set of unspoken rules as their IRL counterparts do: Do things for the lulz or not at all. A troll virus would never take themselves seriously, and mock you if you do. They would choose their victims based on the actions of said... programs? People? Characters. Just take a note of people who attract the most trolls. Usually, they deserve it.
Someone like Megabyte would be a first target: He takes himself waaaaaay too seriously, and it would be hilarious for a troll to flame and break him. Not only that, but he could also be pushed to do some heavy damage to a system, especially if the troll keeps its distance. An easy way to enrage him would be to sabotage the inventions he takes so much pride in.
Someone like Bob, however, would be an amusing acquaintance or a tool at best, perhaps even just as a contact: He is a good person who wouldn't rise to any taunts. I think. Would he? Did he rise to taunts? I forget. BUT; he doesn't do anything to draw attention to himself. And since trolls are perhaps the twisted versions of white knights, a troll (and hence a troll virus) would much rather find someone with a few crimes under their belt to harass than an innocent dude who forgives all. (Pretty boring to flame someone who knows you only do it because it's part of your programming.)
The kind of characters a troll virus would target are (not an all-inclusive list): elitists, people who try too hard, people who try too hard and fail, people who do bad stuff (basically trolls without the lulz), crazies, the weak, the meek, and the easily hurt. (Easily hurt doesn't mean people like Enzo; it means people who are quick to throw a hissy fit. Trolls actually raeg when people hurt the innocent. Just google Kenny Glenn.) A troll virus could even dig up dirt on Users and use it against them, as would probably be their original purpose.
