I can understand the whole clothing explaination - and see where you're coming from; but part of the zeal of ReBoot is that it was essentially a world inside our computer. The characters were heros, but not Superheros. They were relatable - even if clothed beings in a place with no weather (Eh, Mainframe can get pretty stormy!) makes logical sense. The series was birthed from the 90's with the rise of the internet; even when they revisited it in 2001, they managed to update it without loosing it's optimistic yet clearly computerized charm.
I hope you guys think hard about this one - I love the overall idea (with some exceptions), but think perhaps it needs to be toned down just a bit. It should be our world technoized, not Tronized.
the redesign is great. I'm not a fan of the story but it looks really good. I'm not a fan of the hair, I wish it was straighter and not so much flimsy/wavy. I'm also not a fan of Bob's hair, it's too big candle light.
Hi Tacom, I welcome all comments from the fans. I just wrote a bit of an explaination to show that we've got reasoning behind our decissions and that we aren't just pulling stuff out of the blue. And we will be making changes believe me. I'd love to see and hear your suggestions.
ah...that makes more sense...thanks for explaining that for me...uh my biggest bug with this is the direct contact with the user/aliens aswell as the new dot...she looks too different...and bobs hair...that needs to change...he looks too much like chris from resident evil
I like the notion of staying with the original characters and, while I'm sure that a re-imagining of ReBoot was not what the fans had hoped for, I think that there is no right way of continuing the story the way that Season 4 left off (unless Mainframe does it).
That being said, the best idea might be to lose the whole alien invasion idea since it seems a bit too sci-fi and stick with the original main premise: a world within a computer that has been infected by a malevolent virus.
I think that by drawing inspiration from the original series and updating it in terms of computer terminology and function instead of aesthetics should be the real way to go. This sort of thing can best be seen working with an old show like Battlestar Galactica being updated for today's market. They kept essentially the same characters and made them more dimensional while introducing new concepts and characters, but it is quintessentially the same show. It would be similar to the way that a book would be adapted into a movie or how an old movie like The Day the Earth Stood Still could be updated.
I think that the best route, in terms of story, would be to re-imagine the entire season 2, 3, and 4 story arch in the light of current technology. This way, you keep the core focus of the series: the sprites versus Megabyte and his infected files.
While I think that you all have some very creative ideas going on here, I feel that you should tighten the reigns on your creativity a bit and focus on what made ReBoot ReBoot.
I'm not so sure I agree with the above poster, but it may be for personal reasons. I don't want to see a re-imagining of reboot, I don't want the stories and character growth of the previous 4 seasons to be ignored, I want to build forward from that.
On that note, I like some of the ideas of what you guys have going on here. It does something that it looks like a lot of the new potential ideas seem to want to do: connect the inner world of mainframe with events ocurring in the outer world of the user. This is a great idea, as it's something that was barely ever touched by the original show and leaves a great deal of room for creativity.
I think you guys have the start of a really good idea here. My biggest concern isn't something specific, it's more of a general trend that seems to be missing. The thing that turned Reboot from "a show I watched" to "one of my favorites" was the switch from the second to third season, and what happened from there. The show took on a darker, more adult edge to it. This was reflected in the character's new graphics (new Enzo vs old Enzo) for example, or in the way the city was depicted. While the content of the show never darkened so much that it was not suitable for children, it definitely went from a show for young kids to something more geared towards teens and adults.
I liked that darkness, as well as the continuity of plot. While I certainly see the opportunity for continuity in what you've started here, all the art design suggests a much more cartooney, childish direction. It's definitely one workable way to go with the show, but not one I look forward to. Change some things around, darken your color scheme and your script a bit and I'd be much more behind the ideas that you've got started here.
Honestly though, good start. I'm looking forward to seeing where this goes from here.
First of all, the point of ReBoot was to show the computer as a society. It has people in it that live lives like us. To them it's not a "virtual world", it is the world, so the clothing from the original show does indeed make sense, It's a world, like ours, inside the computer. That being said, I don't really mind the clothing changes, It's just that the weather argument makes this idea seem detached from the series.
I would like to see the original hair though, it's just become part of who the characters are and I don't want to see that change.
I like the style of the characters, mainly because they're fairly recognisable. It's also good how the appearance change is being attempted to be explained, although I don't totally understand the reason. It might be cool if the reason everything was upgraded was due to a 64bit OS, you know, embrace the modern technology, without going too far ahead in the future and run amock with alien and user stuff. Also it's a reference to real-life techy stuff (always a good thing - include more) without actually seeing a user, which would be rediculous.

Can you just stick with the normal Heads of the serie? The costums are great but stay with the normal heads of Bob and Dot.

so rather than take in advice you attempt to justify what you did...I thought the fans were the one to listen to here
