One of the most exciting ideas you've had for Arrival is bringing Lens into it. I couldn't be happier.
His character, and especially his description here, reminds me heavily of Dinobot, another all-time favorite Mainframe character. Honor, to him, is paramount, which is why he's able to switch allegiances without too much concern. Outside of the need for honor, his interests should otherwise be somewhat self-serving, and therefore he works with this team out of a combination of respect for Bob and the fact that their needs happen to match his at the moment. I could easily see him splitting off from and rejoining the team multiple times based on these differences.
Great work with this one, and again, the most exciting addition I've seen in any pitch.
Agreeing with TimeMachine. I've been thinking about this (hey, my day job is dull ^^), and "prey" is an odd word. Honestly Megabyte already said "viruses are predatory by design" so does that mean Codemasters share something in common with viruses? Not a good thing for viewers who don't like thin vague ethical lines drawn.
I like TimeMachine's view on the whole Right of Passage theory (at least that's where I'm taking it), where Codemasters use viruses to learn their skills and hone them. It's a bit twisted...but Codemasters aren't exactly your average sprites.
See, I saw Lens as somewhat of a bounty hunter, almost, and hunting down viruses makes sense. If you think of Codemasters as beings who create and modify and manage code at their will, what could be more damaging to that way of life than a virus? It only makes sense that some of them would set out to hunt down the most dangerous viruses simply because they're the enemy of their way of life.
Its great to see your re-visiting the codemasters idea, I mean mainframe came up with some great character ideas and its just refreshing to see that you haven't come up with a whole group of new characters.
As for lens, I do like the new look and while I'm sure Lens has changed somewhat from his original persona and may listen to Bob more after there encounter in Mainframe I don't believe he would have changed completely. As we've all heard numerous times in the ReBoot universe 'You can't go against your programing' so in my mind there will always be a main side to Lens that makes him feel superior, like he knows best and can go and do whatever he feels. Almost an indestructable sence.
Through your story I could see something happening like Lens trying to take control of a situation only to rush off and cause more problems for himself and the sprites only to have Bob help him and from there have Lens more listen and think more then originally.
No matter how much respect Lens holds for Bob, he should always remain sure in his superiority and only agree with Bob when he feels he would have come to the same conclusion on his own. His superiority should lead to differences of opinion, and it should lead he and Bob to end up at each other's throats on multiple occasions, at least one of which should cause Lens to strike out on his own to do it his way.
As well, at times Lens and Matrix should likely end up on the same side due to them having similar delete-first attitudes. Lens is quick to assume destruction and extermination are necessary answers to many problems, and Matrix is very quick with his gun. So I wouldn't be surprised to see Matrix take Lens' side in an argument and end up going off with him.
Wow. Soooo Many people talking about the Codemasters. I can't help bu think involving them was one of the best ideas.
In V21, the Codemasters feature little more prominently - and I think they are represented a little more closely to how Phong described them (bounty hunters). Howeverm, there is a MASSIVE twist that I know everyone will enjoy.
Last line: You torture us with lack of information, sir! But you're leaving stuff out for people to read in the comic. I understand.
I'm fascinated with what -hasn't- been elaborated on. The more one lays out facts about aspects of the ReBoot universe, the more questions we all have! It was definitely a brilliant maneuver.
