I don't know if any of the writers were ever planning on just skipping the hunt. Heck, the 2.0 writer said outright several times that the hunt will be taken care of. It's all a matter of how the story tell plans to use the hunt to facilitate the integration of his or her story line. Everyone saying skip the hunt is just adolescent noise. Even if it's just a blurb, it'll be alright.
I know Wren, it's just insane how many people want to skip the Hunt when it's a major plot line and a lot of people said, before the show came back, they want the Hunt.
As redundant as all the *Let's Forget About the Hunt!* blogs have become, I'm actually torn on the issue. I think that it should be addressed, but I don't necessarily think it would be wise to begin the story with the Hunt as it's pretty much throwing new viewers into the middle of a story without letting them see the beginning, as the beginning of the Hunt is really My Two Bobs. I also am not sure if the Hunt would need four episodes; I always felt like the Hunt was more or less the conclusion of My Two Bobs, and really only required one more episode, as I don't see how much they could do with Megabyte hunting everyone down in the principal office without the audience getting bored - two hours of that seems a little bit too much and unnecessary. The idea of the Hunt seemed more or less the big finale for My Two Bobs, which doesn't really have a proper conclusion or resolution, as opposed to Daemon Rising, which resolved Daemon while introducing a new story, that of a second Bob. With My Two Bobs, the story was never resolved because, although the mystery behind the second Bob was revealed, the Bob imposter, who turned out to be Megabyte, was never actually defeated and the specific conflicts and tensions in the movie between Bob and Dot were never fully resolved.
So, in my mind at least, the Hunt isn't simply another movie, but a continuation and conclusion of the unfinished My Two Bobs, a movie that I, personally, would rather forget for the most part, lol. And, as I said before, I don't think the Hunt really needs four episodes to be resolved, as it's more or less the conclusion of a pre-existing story rather than a whole story that can work on its own. That being said, I still would like there to be an acknowledgement of what happened in the Hunt or a flashback of some kind. I suppose if they wanted to have it as the introduction of the new story, I wouldn't mind either (although I understand why it would be difficult to put it at the beginning when thinking about new viewers), but I still don't think it needs to be longer than a half hour. I also think the difference between the confusion new viewers felt when they first watched the Tearing, the first episode of Season 1 or Reboot is a little different in the sense that the viewers still starting at the beginning of a story, despite the new and unfamiliar concepts and setting. With The Hunt, on the other hand, they'd be starting in the middle/end of the story of My Two Bobs, as I said before, resulting in a confusion that is much more problematic.
And that's my take on it, I guess, lol! By the way, when are you going to post more Professor Bob stuff at the Java Hut? Not that I'm nagging or anything, lol...but Professor Bob is the best! :)
The Hunt can easily be 4 episodes. Megabyte just came back from the Web, and has powers we don't even know of. We can do SO much with just the trojan powers. Hell, we don't even know what kind of plotting he did in the Web.
It's going to be the same, new viewers watching these movies, and us, new viewers back then watching the show.
Prof. Bob: Posted two episodes earlier. Just keep watching!
There is something that everyone is not really paying attention to, and that is the words megabite said. He said it is time for him to follor his function, something that he has not or that the situation has not arised for him to do so. This could lead us into an new story that could go 4 episodes that is not just mega bit running after them, hell it could be done in perhaps 2 episodes. The hunt is something fans want to see, yeah mabe a flsh back will tell us inportant things that help with a new story, but true fans want to see what happens and not just a flash back like when matrix and bob return to mainfram and the fire wall is distroied and they do a flsh back to hexidesimal. for one it is implyed that that is what happend and how it happend but if it is there asumption then it is what they that could of occured with evidence that suports there theory. i do want to say the twin city is a cool thing to explor and has mistory and would keep you watching to see if they can infact resore the city. if it is restored would it still be called lost angles?
The Hunt could be covered in 3 minutes, if that's what it takes. Just because the phrase "the hunt" is probably the most-used combination of words on this site doesn't mean it absolutely must take up an entire movie, side-tracking the whole revival.
I think I have to agree with rek; in my mind, the Hunt is more or less the conclusion of the unfinished My Two Bobs and really doesn't need to be longer than one episode, if that. Sure, you COULD expand on it and make it an entire movie, but would that really be necessary to resolve the story? Personally, I don't think it would be. The Hunt is really not it's own story, but a conclusion to the story of My Two Bobs, and therefore doesn't need to drag on for four episodes, especially when Megabyte's voice actor, the late Tony Jay, will not even be able to voice the part. And, as I just want My Two Bobs and all things related to be over with as quickly as possible, I say end it within an episode and move onto a new, much more interesting and entertaining story for our favorite characters that both new and old Reboot fans can enjoy (as My Two Bobs really was a terrible mess, in my opinion).
Oh, and Squall142, I got to read the last two Professor Bob episodes - funny, as always! And I was pleasantly surprise to see both Dot and Matrix make an appearance! :)
As much as I'd like to see the conclusion of The Hunt, as a long-time fan of ReBoot and big believer in continuity, it might need to be sacrificed to welcome in a new audience. I don't think they'd be confused -- or rather, no more confused than we were by the original ReBoot of blue and green skinned people lol -- but that they might not like being launched into a situation with a bunch of characters with (to them) no prior development.
But if Cartoon Network started airing the old ReBoot series to prepare people for the new one, it would work out great to continue The Hunt in the new series.
Like I said, Megabyte just got back, has a bunch of new powers (some we don't know of, some we do), and those can be expanded on, and whatever his plans are, they can be explored. Who knows what he did in the Web?
Again, no matter what, people will be confused going in wondering who is who.
About the Tony Jay issue: They can do about three things: Get a suitable replacement (Some one who can do justice), splice old tape together, or use this device that can replicate voices that was mentioned on the Java Hut. I will miss Tony Jay's Baritone voice though...
