We all know Bob's had to deal with brain-washed sprites, but you need to still remember that most of the Net-Bob included-don't know very much about CM activity. He will still experience shock at the fact that codes from deleted Sprites were planted within Gnosis (giving him less respect for Code Masters in the process) and though 'new' avatars (like Enzo) are easy to deal with ie. reverse their conversions, there will still be a question of what to do with the initial avatars: can they be revived? Would they collapse if Gnosis collapses? Can they even be used by the Net? Do they have any memories from their previous carnations?
Raidensbinome: Yes, I think all these philosophical questions will have to be dealt with during the story.
That said, I never considered the problem of killing Gnosis = killing all the avatar-sprites. That would certainly raise a massive conflict. Obviously, Bob would have to figure out a way to recompile the avatar-sprites before they did away with Gnosis. Good call!
Perhaps Gnosis will over extend itself/himself (?)...resulting in fragmentation. The created avatars would fragment, as well. (Chain effect. Think of when the Trade Federation ship was destroyed in SW, and what happened to its droid army.) I think another term, or idea, would be an overload, again because Gnosis tries to do to much.
In Star Trek the Motion Picture, V-ger ascended by becoming one with the Creator. I can see Gnosis attempting this using the Codex, but failing.
The rush would be to get as much code from the Avatars before they de-rez (to use a Tron term). They could already be armed with samplers similar, but significantly smaller, to the Game Code Sampler. That way they could get the stolen code, and not worry about deleting the Avatar.
They start carrying the code samplers after Enzo gets the word out to Bob that Gnosis is using code from deleted sprites in the Avatars. That way they are attempting to sample each Avatar before getting rid of it.
I really like Arrival V2. You have Megabyte taking over the net. Then since he's corrupting things the user can't play games so he/she goes and plays web game (MMORPG or whatever). Meanwhile, the codemasters create Gnosis to fight back against Megabyte, though in the back of their minds they really want to research the Codex. Then Gnosis merges with Megabyte and Phong making a super villian taking over the net. Matrix, AndrAIa, Ether, and Vector go into the MMO game to try to get the user back to the net. Enzo, Mouse, and Ray are captured by Gnosis and Gnosis turns Enzo into a sort of avatar like killing machine. Thus, the heroes must find a way to defeat Gnosis and fight against Enzo, and solve the conflict of possibly having kill Enzo to save the net, and thus the whole adventure begins.
The story in itself might need just some minor tweaking now, maybe to do with Enzo's development or adding in the recompiling the avatar sprites part, but it is surely the best pitch out there. It feels like ReBoot!
I think 2.0 is a really good concept, my only problem is that it is basically a darker version of season four's "Deamon Rising". I didn't join the ReBoot revival and support ReBoot coming back just to get another season four. Plus, I'm just getting sick and tired of politics and i don't see the need to now smother youth in politics when this world is already so screwd up when it comes to this subject. Let's just move onto something else.
That is why I am voting for Arrival. It has ALL the original characters (yes even Hex is coming back) and their character designs still look fairly close to the original sereies we all grew up loving. Arrival just seems to have the same feel of the series that attracted us all, in my opinion. That's why Arrival get's my BIG TIME vote to be the next edition of ReBoot.
TurtleDreamer: Code-sampler weapons! That's wicked! Really, that's reminiscent of my implication as to the Gibson Coil Pike's operation (they don't delete, as Phong said, but instead decompile the Sprite and store their code). It's SOOOO in the notes.
Jester17: Thanks man. You've been around for the whole darn thing so I really appreciate your vote.
