I loved this bizarre imagery too. Can you just take out the old background of Gnosis' base and put in the Mainframe energy sea horizon instead? There could still be cables rising out of the ocean, but now where would they lead to? Would they really be necessary to keep the processor going?
By the way, where did you guys get an image of Mainframe with the sectors dissected like that? I meant to ask.
Hm, more fanart of Vector? Yet endian did such a good job. Maybe fanart of fanart? ;)
I just wrote this paragraph and am very happy with it.
***The Users in the Web Game are all bizarre aliens that speak a strange, pictographic dialect (|_|B3R-|33 ) which makes absolutely no sense to the heroes. This prevents the Users from communicating intelligibly with the heroes.***
The idea of l33t-speak as a User language was proposed by endian in the B-Plot post, but I'd actually considered it very early on - well before any of you even knew about this contest. endian reminded me how cool it was.
Hm, well if anything (as my drawing skills lack with technical details and architecture) I know Megabyte's reign in ID Crisis Pt 2 had the sky be polluted with grey clouds, but when you think about it, does it make sense for computers to have energy-based plants that don't burn cleanly? As the place is self-contained, it would make sense that would be filtered away by air filtration systems. In that case, just make the sky a constant evening sky? Like the energy levels are being conserved by stingy uber-energy-conservation Megabyte? Think North Korea: http://farm1.static.flickr.com/67/172726950_dd4f4dda23.jpg
As for Gnosis, I'd imagine the sky to be shifting through reds and black setting the system in a bizzarre rippling glow. It would be like Lens's Paradigm Shift (I had no idea what he was doing in that reference) only wouldn't be quite so flashy or apparently harmful.
Sorry, I can't draw a whole city, so I'll just use write-ups to hopefully explain the idea.

It's actually an alteration of an old Mainframe image. smartens busted it up using his magical photoshoppin' skills.

Ill take a wack at some vector art, but what exactly are you looking for in terms of art for mainframe?

I'am on the job.

Aaronindhouse: Well... something to go with the description. That said, there are essentially two major states in which we will see Mainframe:
Dominated by Megabyte, and
Dominated by GNOSIS.
So you have two options.

I'm not good at drawing technical either. Sorry Prof. :(
