Can I post a couple suggestions on how the Avatars function? At least how I think they should? Or maybe PM it to ya. It's your call. Thought it IS rather long...
Anyway, I have to agree with everybody here; I like this storyline. It seems kind of like the old Alien movies, and I like your attention to detail without error. Most often people make mistakes, and though to err is human, I think I speak for everyone when, say, something out of context takes place and then there's a confused moment where you just sit there contemplating it. And I loved your new Dot and Bob! Completely fantastic!
"has all this been done in a 60's cartoon series that I've never heard of?" Officially splorting my drink over here. XD Nice one. "Resistance is futile" perhaps? Maybe make a Star Trek reference once it's discovered he's comprised of a collective of drones.
Personally, the imagery is stunning me, especially the one of Gnosis (diaGnosis?). The mindless drones, on the other hand, I can see being made to look more fleshed out, contrary to what many are saying. I'm not a fan of the satanic vybe from the cloved feet. Satyr sprites? Maybe they can look like reworks where only some parts of them are mechanical while other parts look like sprite Frankenstein rejects with wiring and light running through them? It would be absolutely eerie, and I could picture people seeing that on the street and running for their lives. Robots look like you can put them in a crusher, animated semi-mechanical bodies, on the other hand, you don't even want to go near, like they're part of a plague.
Think it'd be too creepy for viewers? I could try to find time to sketch out the idea if it sounds promising to you.
I really like the character ideas, I think the concept of the avatars is great. I would like to see them look a little more machine like though. From the sound of it they are not just other creatures but creations of Gnosis, and if that's the case I think that they should have some identifiably robot-like parts.
I do not want anything from the origional Reboot (graphic wise)to change. Nor do I want characters from the origional ReBoot series to change or go away. I want the design to stay the same from the origional ReBoot, otherwise it will be something completely different and you might as well give the show a new name.
We all grew up with the characters and magnificent images and we want to re-connect with them again.
I want all of the characters to all be exactly the same and maybe introduce one or two new characters. I want to see how much they have grown and see their new upcoming challanges.
I think some things from the last series need to be established which werent established very well. I would like to see a little more romance in the series thsi time (when they arent fighting). I think that way you will attract different audiences and different age groups.
I have always loved the storyline between Matrix and AndrAIa and would love to see that expanded on a lot more. Maybe even see them have a child.
I have read some fantastic ReBoot fan fiction that I think would make some wonderful episodes. They are mainly on:
I really love the look of Gnosis and its avatars, and the newer ideas for the origin that you have been exploring at the Java Hut forum. And I'd like to reiterate the question that was mentioned a little earlier by someone else, regarding how much independent thought capacity the Avatars actually have, or just extensions of Gnosis' own personality, such as it is.
also for your stories, you have Bob & co traveling around in a spaceship trying to save the systems and destroy Gnosis.
The problem I have with that is that it has already been done. Matrix & Andraia traveled around the systems helping out and trying to find Bob, and it was cool for a few episodes the time invested into Mainframe is where it's at.
In finale for Season 1 of Reboot, a sector was converted from Megabyte's hold and turned into a beautiful park. It was a great rewarding finale because throughout so many battles and close calls, they good guys were winning.
Well, that is my point of view. I have ideas on how you can rewrite your story but I really doubt you care since I've asked for answers to my critism but don't want to respond.
Finally I would like to add, I love love love love the art. That is probably why everyone is geared towards your pitch because it looks like the old Reboot. Clean, good looking, and can make for great CGI. But also reminds of Tron.
so please just rethink your story because Gnosis does not work and you are making me a sad fanboy.
Please for all that is good, Rethink the story logically of how a computer actually works and interacts with the user. Look at the genious way Reboot 2.0 is using an OS upgrade to change the whole setting but still keep fundamental characters. Really smart move, yet you are going way off to left field to bring in aliens and the User. The User is 'God', he controls the system and sends games. He has the power to upgrade the system, just think things logically and do a re-write because you aren't making fans happy.
Mainframe is the computer connected to the internet, not some alien jumbo tron thing. Come on, really think and come up with something.
Your concept of Gnosis controlling everything through big wires has already been done exactly. Beast Machines had Megatron hoisted up by big cables and he controlled everything with his mind. And guess what, it sucked. Please look past your own ideas, or lack thereof, and see the past shows Mainframe has already done and learn.
How is a virus/alien supposed to get out of the computer and take over the User?.. no please stop right there. It is not only a slap in the face to the Cannon which Reboot is about, it is a slap in the face of all Reboot fans who aren't 5-6 years old and do not know how a computer works.
The underlying tones that a grownup can take and the comedy is how all the cannon relates to computers and it actually makes sense. No need for this Sci-fi stuff.
