i agree that the film could still be a success without Gavin and Ian, but in order to secure the faith of the fans into this project it would be best if they were a part of it. Gavin and Ian have made Reboot what it is today. In a way, they have grown with the characters themselves. I think they are the only ones who will be able to pull it off without a hitch and make an amazing film.
Hear, hear! Involvement and consultation is vital, I think to keep Reboot as Reboot and not some pet project to completely re-invent Reboot. I'm all for tweaks, surprises, new characters, and changes but Reboot was a success for us as it was because of some of its basic elements. The humour and the original characters need to remain intact - let us not do to Reboot what was done to shows of the 80's like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles...:S
I feel that Gavin and Ian shouldn't be involved at this point.
I feel the movie will flop if it's a direct continuation of Series 4. WHY? Because only fans will watch the movie. If a non fan saw the movie, s/he would be like "WTF is going on?". I feel Gavin and Ian should only be involved if they are continuing Season 4.
I think that ReBoot should be Reintroduced for this one to try and get new fans to get into the series. THEN the boxset release, then (if both are sucessful), BRING ON THE HUNT!!!!!!
Or, we could start the Hunt to reintroduce fans (but in the sense of Terminator Salvation)
Giga-dittos to all the above. How about securing original voice actors as well. They ask us what made Bob the character we know and love and I answer "It was Benyaer!". Ian James Corlett did a valiant job, but season 4 didn't feel like ReBoot until Michael Benyaer returned. AFAIK Tony Jay, God rest his soul, is the only VA who cannot return. So, fine; reboot ReBoot, but bring back the voice actors!!
Hear hear! But I do think Ian Corlett was a fine GlitchBob, better for the grittier third season. With the return of Michael Benyaer, it felt more like classic, fun ol' ReBoot, which was also great. Season 4 had a mix of the two types of ReBoot, I think...
Yeah, I have to agree with you there. I prefer Bob sounding like he did as GlitchBob, it seemed like a perfect balance of funny, likable Bob but still mature at times.
I agree with you Squall, it would be fantastic to see the old writers continue their story. If it were by anyone else I think it might make me question the direction Gavin and Ian would have gone in.
I agree with Squall 100 percent. Gavin and Ian know Reboot's cast and plots in intimate detail. They were the creators of the franchise and I think they need to have a part in the the Show's future.
I think it would be in the best interest of Rainmaker to get as much of the original cast and crew (VA's and Creators) on board with their new project. It would be a freakin miracle if Rainmaker makes this project without them and it actually turns out good.
I agree completely. With ReBoot, there's just some element, some feeling behind it, that can't be imitated. It has to come from the original creators and cast. And I think we've already seen some evidence of that during this Revival. Without them involved, it just ain't ReBoot!
