Reboot was one of the top four cartoons that ultimatly got me into anime. There is nothing better in my opinion, but that's just mine, others might think differently.
Reboot was a show that knew who its fans were. Look at the first season. Sure, it was aimed at kids, but in the "Talent Night" episode, a sprite comes out and sings "Rocket Man" a la William Shatner, complete with toupee gag and "beam up" exit. Another act was a band composed of the two characters from the "Dire Straits-Money for Nothing" video.
As the series progressed, the creators threw more and more bones to the sci-fi and gamer communities, and moved away from making a "kids" show. It grew with its audience, always remaining smart and funny, full of character. The action seemed to take a back seat to characters, which was almost unheard of on a 'cartoon' in those days. It broke ground, and now its cult following is growing as we who enjoyed it then remember it now.
Actually alot of shows today don't have the sophisication of ReBoot.
Avatar the Last Airbender is probably the last good cartoon show that has been recently aired and it ended a year ago.
Most of the graphic movies I have seen spent so much time focusing on the graphics that they have forgotten or overlooked the character development. ReBoot never did that even though CGI was its medium.
What?! Rainmaker helped make Stargate sg1? I'm watching that right now! It's my favorite sci-fi! No wonder it was so good . . .
Agreed, most shows today don't have the same level of plot and sophistication that ReBoot had. It amazes me that people are actually entertained with who can become the next top model and celebrity gossip shows. The great thing about ReBoot, is that it had great characters, an interesting story line, and it was visually appealing. It was also perhaps the most original show of it's time. The closest thing to it was Tron, but that movie lacked the character depth and level of fun that ReBoot withheld.

That is why it still has a fanbase today.
