I think Gavin had a plan for Megabyte. It was supposed to be a twist. Or at least the ending was.
I think Viruses can be expanded on. Because there are things called intended viruses and worms and AV killers that can make the story really interesting.
Are the "Code of Honour" comics cannon? If so, he might already be dead.
Still, I believe it's time for him to bite the dust for good. He's a great villain, cunning and powerful, but villains are meant to be defeated ultimately. Maybe he doesn't have to die, but I believe if he's gonna go out, it should be in a great fight of some sort.
I don't believe they are considered canon (and really, why would anyone want to consider those things canon... they're not that great). The original co-creators had no input with them, and they have the REAL conclusion to season 4/the movies which is INSANELY GOOD, but Rainmaker needs to ask them to come back (and have control over THEIR creation) before anyone gets to see it properly animated and finished as it should be.
Personally I'd love to see a storyline where Bob converts Megabyte into a sprite/benign virus but Megabyte is unable to handle life without predation and planning, forcing him to find a method that will return him to full power or an upgraded form with a greater range of viral powers.
When he reappeared in Season 4, completely blown away.
I thought he would return, yet was expecting a low level virus to be fake bob. One that had a message , that Megabyte was coming.
As much as I'd love him to be in the show again, nobody could truly replace Tony Jay.
Thus is my idea, he is degrading by the web since he no longer has the guardian code to protect him. New voice like glitch bob & viable canon for new voice actor. Thus when saved, he has viral upgrade to Terabyte, whole new villain & powers. Yet real villain should be a new virus, one that's been secretly known to the audience the whole time, for example: "Matrix's eye".
Again, Megabyte has been the main villain of the show, so we love him. Yet when he falls, the new villain will instantly prove their worth.
I agree, Megabyte is a great villain, probably the best villain of all time :) Though, I think its time for him to leave the stage and give the characters a new perspective to focus on. I would definitely finish the hunt however that was mentioned at the end of season 4.

Why not come up with a new race, that actually has the power to delete Megabyte? Megabyte is too creepy, I'd prefer Hex.

Why not turn him into a punching bag for Matrix, that way Matrix can still take out his temper, while Bob gets to change Megabyte.

Red: I can see that happening. I can see him become a corrupted sprite. Or maybe the conversion was not 100% successful.

I think they should get rid of him, for now and get a new villian for a few seasons, then maybe he could be revived because he was in another system.
