A few ideas for Regenerated & Arrival pitches

0 Like This

I've been throwing a few ideas around in my head after reading the first two pitches and thought I'd throw them out there or at least jot them down before I forget them! I can see possibilities in all 4 stories (Last User has nothing about it that I could rebuild on) though I've only skimmed through ReBoot 2.0 and "Last Guardian" so I need to look at those two a bit more.

Remember these are just some ideas, its not a rewrite, and I'm not going to say what to remove, I'm just making suggestions of what the story pitches could become, so to speak.

Regenerated

The more I go over this, the more I like the basic idea behind it. Its got a lot of stuff in it that is not really suited for ReBoot fans but they could easily be changed. First off some notes/ideas on the story. The basic idea is that this story runs parallel to "The Hunt" if it is created, kind of like a 'what happens everywhere else while Mainframe is fighting Megabyte' type scenario.

* Pathogen (virus) idolises Megabyte. To them, they see that only Megabyte could be the true power to rule over the net. Their virus powers are almost on par with Megabyte's however they don't quite have the capacity to think like he does, and is prepared to serve Megabyte for the rest of their function.
* Pathogen meets Megabyte face-to-face in the web. Pathogen is not as susceptible to the powerful elements in the web so their ability to withstand it without having to resort to some sort of armor is a bonus. Pathogen asks for part of Megabyte's code and in exchange upgrades Megabyte to the new trojan virus he is now.
* Pathogen believes that Mainframe is the only thing that stands in the way of Megabyte's glory.
* Megabyte during the "Hunt" has locked down Mainframe from the inside so that they cannot call for help. Pathogen decides to take it one step further and locks it from the outside, though he also places a trap within the lock which could trigger the ultimate destruction of Mainframe, unless the code that Pathogen carries with him is used to unlock it.
* Cache and his team then have a race against time to try and hunt down Pathogen to get the code they need to deconstruct the trap that the virus has set up. They know that Bob and the other Mainframers will be working to try and unlock Megabyte's block from the inside, but they have no way of telling the Mainframers about the trap on the other side.
* The Guardians are of no help. They are seen as almost untrustworthy by most systems because of the ease in which they were infected by Daemon and then their ability to infect the entire net. Cache and his team have no-one else to rely on except themselves.

Character ideas:

Pathogen is not quite the smart virus as he makes out to be. So dedicated he is to Megabyte that even though the trap that could go off should the Mainframers get to it would not only obliterate them but Megabyte as well, he still believes that Megabyte is invincible enough to live through it. That or he hasn't thought his plan through enough!

Cache is the son of a Guardian who was fairly high ranked. Because of this status, Cache himself went through life believing he'd automatically become the greatest Guardian in the net. How wrong he was. He failed the exams and didn't exactly appeal to many of the other Guardian cadets with his arrogant attitude. Through his failure, and the obivous disappointment of his father, he changed his personality to better himself, to find his own way. Cache is a fan of the sprites in Mainframe. There's nobody on the net who hasn't heard of the adventures and dilemmas that that system has gone through and to Cache, Bob is still his ultimate hero. To be able to save his hero from the peril that Mainframe has been placed in, would be the ultimate thrill for him. (Cache is about 18-22)

Fwun (new character?) - main programming is a help program (F1), though her coding is a little twitchy. Because of this, whenever the User activates the help program, Fwun goes a bit haywire. This can mean she becomes vulnerable whereby enemies, such as Pathogen or the neighbourhood bully, can access any information on the net. It can also be a problem when the gang are trying to hide from enemies as Fwun usually jumps out of hiding and announces "Where would you like to go today?" ;p

Cache's team could be made up of himself; a female hacker; Fwun, the help program; a reformatted virus (something with a similar personality to Hex but probably male) and Pixel, a little glowy thing that can convert into anything they need (almost anything).

Arrival

Some of the ideas behind this are not bad, and they can be built upon. Mine is a bit more of an opposite to what is being suggested here but using a similar premise.

* Someone mentioned how Systems cannot be sentient and take over the net etc, and I agree, however the Core of a System could quite possibly become sentient. It could be that a sprite or binome may have accidentally been absorbed by the Core but instead of being deleted, their personality created a new sentient being within the Core of Gnosis.

* The Core of Gnosis ultimately receives the bulk of information transmitted through the system, and usually gets the data from anything that comes in from the User. The Core believes it needs to improve itself through the acquisition of further knowledge, and to do this it believes it needs to gain this knowledge through other systems.

* Portals open up all over Gnosis and beams of energy shoot out through these portals, reaching out through the network into other systems. Once it reaches a system, the energy creates a portal into the system and then immediately attacks the core, drawing all energy (and thus information data) from it. With the energy completely depleted, the system begins to breakdown until it is finally wiped clean or possibly deleted.

* Lens and Ether discover this while in another System and quickly head out into the net down pathways not yet used by Gnosis. The next system they come to is Mainframe. Lens doesn't have terribly fond memories of this place but knows that they need to warn the inhabitants of the impending 'attack'. Bob and the others manage to set up a series of blocks to stop Gnosis from opening portals into their system.

* Unfortunately, Gnosis is a bit too strong and manages to break through. It penetrates the core and begins to download energy/information. Mouse with her good hacking skills, along with the help of Ether manage to take the system offline completely, thus blocking access by Gnosis and stopping any further energy drain. But it may be too late. The system has become unstable and is now open to the Web. Warpan and his Webriders arrive and thankfully they're here to offer assistance. However, there's a bit of tension between them and the Codemasters.

* Mainframe begins to degrade, along with many citizens. Bob knows that if he merges with Glitch he could set up a more powerful shield to protect the city, but the last time he merged he became too unstable. Lens offers his assistance and believes he can help stabilise Bob's code after the merge. They agree and Glitch Bob is born again.

* Glitch Bob knows that this protection he's put on the city will not last long, and Gnosis has turned its own citizens into an army of powerful soldiers who are heading through the web to try to get into Mainframe and bring the system back online. Glitch Bob can't believe that the whole scenario they went through with Daemon is now happening again.

* GB, Lens, Ether, Ray Tracer and Mouse head off in the NullFire to Gnosis to try and stop the system Core from destroying all the systems on the net. Matrix, AndrAIa, Enzo, Phong and Dot stay behind and work together with Warpan and the Webriders to fend off Gnosis' army and the occasionaly rogue web creature that gets into the system.

Okay so there's a couple of ideas lol. Remember they're just ideas, I haven't rewritten the pitches and they may not even be considered at all but its something to think about. Yeah for Arrival I kind of went back to Season 4 a little bit with Mainframe having to go offline to prevent from being attacked, but if it happens once who's to say it can't happen again?

Amazing blog, well thought out and explained. Those two perticularly I don't care much for.

You really owe it to yourself to read Reboot 2.0's story. It is by far the best possible and logical starting point for a new Reboot. I am not saying it is perfect but it's better than the other ones.

Click my profile and look at my blog to see Reviews for all pitches, how to mix match to make the best possible ReBoot possible.

Also I'm asking people want Rating they want for the new ReBoot, so answer that as well.

Once again, nicely posted and laid out.

Some good thoughts here, Mayhem! You've actually tapped into Cache's spirit and threads of his backstory. The way we've conceived it, Cache's dreams of becoming Prime Guardian were crushed when Guardian Corporation took over. Cache is way too much of a rebel to make a good Guardian operative(kinda like Bob who believed that viruses shouldn't simply be deleted). And they wouldn't take him anyway, he doesn't fit the psychological profile. He's been forced to find a new way to fulfill his destiny...

And Fwun... I like it! I'll propose it to the team and give others a chance to submit Nybble names before making a final decision.

    Thanks!
