What to do with anime Dot (2.0) ...

0 Like This

Yes, pretty much all of us are in agreeance - anime pre-teen Dot has to go. We're all down with that. However, I think that piece of artwork, while crappy for Dot, is still worth holding onto - not for Dot, but for a new character. Why waste a piece of artwork entirely? Just put it to a different use. Here we have a recolor of that piece of artwork (it's really just a rough idea, so bear with me):

see blog

This is a character I've named Synth. I have a few possible story paths concerning this character (that is, unless the writers already have a need for such a character, in which case, here's a piece of artwork anyway), but first I need to make a couple of basic points about her, which apply to each of them.

- Synth; it's a simple computer term, usually used with musical programs. Synth strings, synth chorus, etc etc etc. I originally got this from the initial character design - she seems like a somewhat musical character, doesn't she?

- Enzo's 'interest'. As we've already seen, if we're sticking with his scarf appearance, Enzo isn't exactly a little kid anymore; so it'd only make sense if such a character would eventually gain his attention, possibly becoming an important point in certain plots. I mean, hell, Enzo had AndrAIa when they were kids, so why not this backup of Enzo when he's considerably older?

Anyway, here are my ideas for this character:

1. A creation of Serenity. Basically, created for the sole purpose of bringing our little Tagger in once and for all. Then past that point, maybe, maybe not, Synth could be swayed to become a good guy.

2. A reformatted sprite, taken in by the good guys - perhaps rescued, etc etc. Constantly going back and forth between the Rebooters and Serenity, causing a bit of chaos. Another possibility to add into this one would be if she was originally from Mainframe's twin city - if Serenity rebuilt that place, along with all of the lost sprites there, perhaps once the OS is defeated, the twin city, as well as Synth, would disappear.

I realize that my ideas are somewhat scattered, random, etc, but that's just the way my mind works - sorry.

    i like it/ her

i like that Enzo would have a new interest....but wait, wouldnt Andrea be older as well???

hmmmm......but with the scarf thing im not sure if hes older at all.....maybe even younger since his shirt says 01 on it

Matrix is 11, kid Enzo after the episode "talent night" turned 10

but i like this character though

    good job

I agree that the artwork is good (but maybe not the best for Dot). I had also thought of some characters that might run with Enzo; I made them sprites from the Web (and named the girl Java).

Serenity would certainly generate its own new Sprites, but how you get them to side with Old Framers would be quite the story.

G452 - We don't know where Andraia is at the moment. Assuming she survived the Hunt... Remember, Enzo and Matrix aren't the same characters, and there was on Andraia backup to produce a second younger sprite.

If you were to base the character background on her name, why not just say she's come packaged with the Serenity OS, as a music program (maybe not as the program itself, but perhaps the type of sprite who works in a record store. Dot worked in a diner, so why not?). Everyone's got iTunes/WMP/WinAmp/some kind of music player, so it's not like this'd be unusual in a computer system.

    i know

the hunt hasnt started yet...Megabyte said to begin it....i believe that Andrea is with Mouse and Dot and Bob and Matrix.

there was a back up of enzo when he was 01....but the original enzo (matrix) was 10...then turned 11 from game hopping.

and Andrea was just created with a back up of herself

Mainframe doesn't have a backup of Andraia, that's why a second copy didn't appear after the System Restore following Daemon's defeat. She only exists outside of that submarine game because she piggybacked out on Enzo's icon. The same thing would have to happen again to get a young Andraia.

About Matrix and AndrAIa's age. Remember, Turbo said that at that point in time, they SHOULD be about 11 - that thought clearly surprised Matrix. So they're only technically 11 - in reality, however, who knows what age they represent?

I love the idea of Synth being a music program - good call on that one. Perhaps she could be a sort of forced-celebrity, much like many of our own singing 'superstars'.

Also, what do people think about music-based abilities? Maybe a guitar that can be used to attack with music? A horribly unoriginal idea, I admit, but I still like it.

Oh, and about the '01' on Enzo's shirt in the scarf artwork - I personally believe that was a mistake by the artist/s. By this point, this Enzo should be at least 10 or 11.

...see, now that you've mentioned music programs, I'm looking at her and thinking Noodle from Gorillaz. Which isn't a bad thing at all...

I don't think she needs to be a villain or attack anyone. Like you said she could be a factory produced pop star. And maybe she knows it, which makes her start to doubt Serenity. That would give us sympathetic characters on their side of the fence.
